Daily life, advice and reviews from an everyday mummy.

Another bright sunny day this summer enabled us to visit this amazing place.

Canonteign falls is described as a hidden gem on Dartmoor, it features the highest manmade waterfall in England at 70m high.

I have to say that we had an amazing time here and would highly recomend visiting to everyone!

The climb up to the top is steep with slippery uneven surfaces at times, but my 3 year old managed it well. There are backpack styles available to hire at reception if you are taking younger children.
There is plenty to see on the way up, smaller waterfalls, fern gardens and flowers gardens.

When you reach the top you are greeted with the most amazing view across the fields and hills around you.
At the top of the waterfall is a manmade leat feeding the waterfall and you can literally stand at the edge looking down. It was mesmerising and surprisingly peaceful.

We stayed up here for a 20 minutes watching and the children played in the water. We then made our way down. At the bottom we found a lovely picnic area next to the lake for lunch which also had a play area and zip wire for the boys to run off some energy (surprised they had any left!). We then ventured over to the cafe which served some amazing homemade cakes, not a crumb was left.

If you are in the area then pleaaes do visit, you will not be disappointed.
