After having 2 children in nappies (one still is!) I feel I’ve worked my way through them all! So here is a quick low down of how we found the different brands:
Pampers – these are meant to be the best.. However we found them the worst for leaking. They never held much urine and quickly were sagging at their knees!
Huggies – I had stocked up on these with my first and ended up giving away or binning them. They were so rigid and again didn’t hold up much to newborn poo!
Lidl – these were ok but reminded me of cheap plastics nappies from when my sisters were young 20 years ago! They could easily cause rashes due to sweating of the plastic.
Tesco own brand – great nappies and great price. Have had no problems with these at all!
Asda own brand (little angels) – would steer clear of these completely. I can only describe these as having burnt my sons bottom. I wasn’t the only one that found this and I was informed it was a common problem. I was reimbursed from Asda for the discomfort they had caused.
And now to the ones that I can’t fault at all and they are:
Aldi Mamia nappies – they are very reasonably priced, feel comfortable and hold a lot of urine! They don’t sag like the pampers and the pull ups are equally impressive. I would highly recommend them for newborns and older toddlers!
Aldi’s baby event started Thursday. All sorts of great offers and now that I have been converted to mamia nappies and wipes I always stock up at these events!
2 boxes of 12 wipes – £5.99 each
2 boxes of nappies – £6.99 each
Storybook – 99p
2 Nuby bath toys – £2.99 each
Toddler toilet wipes – 59p
Not in the picture as they are in the dishwasher was 2 nuby beakers. £1.99 each.
The wipes are a bargain so if you can get to an Aldi, then definitely stock up!!
Found these kids welly socks in Aldi today. £1.49 for 2 pairs!
It’s so cold at the moment and we are in welly season so I’m sure these will come in handy!
So being on maternity leave means being frugal! The last few months I’ve been shopping at aldi and I love it! You can get so much for your money and it still tastes great. My shopping bill has gone from £90-100 to just £60 a week. With bear now eating whatever we eat, I’ve had to start meal planning better. I never really did it before and just cooked what we fancied on the day but obviously that was the cause of my overspending as we just had too much in the house!
After looking at the offers, this is what our meal plan looks like this week:
Monday: pork chops, sweet potato mash and carrots
Tuesday: chunky beef chili and rice (and veg)
Wednesday: breaded cod, chips and peas
Thursday: sausage, mash and beans
Friday: lasagne and homemade bread
Saturday: take out
Sunday: Sunday roast (turkey)
